The Hi-Traq is an underwater four tracks vehicle, revealed in June 2014, very maneuverable and automatically self-leveling, used for cable laying in offshore wind farms or maintenance. 1,25 MW, 50 t, sufficiently heavy to be stable in currents. Peristaltic locomotion robot, 2012. This robot, built by Case Western Reserve University, has a structure allowing it to move like a worm. The concept uses a continuously deformable outer mesh that interpolates the body position between discrete actuators. This prototype uses a continuous braided mesh exterior to produce waves of motion along the body of the robot.

Such contraction movement and progressive relaxation is called peristalsis.
